Nata Babushkina

A native of the Tambov region, she was among the first seven skydivers to set a world record by jumping from a height of 7035 meters without an oxygen apparatus. For her bravery, she was awarded the Order of the Red Star.

In the summer of 1936, NadezhdaBabushkina was invited to the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Mari Autonomous Region. But staying on the Mari land turned into a tragedy for the guest.

In the square opposite to the city hospital, a bust of a girl was installed. NataBabushkina is shown wearing a flight helmet. In those years, parachuting, like aviation itself, was very popular.

The sculptor isBlazhnov K.I.

It is an object of cultural heritage of the Mari El Republic: Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Mari ASSR dated December 16, 1970 No. 692.
